Border Crossing Information

The US/Canadian border is 40 miles from downtown Haines.

As of June 1, 2009, anyone entering the U.S. by air, land, or sea is required to have a valid passport. Currently, the requirements for entering Canada are still set at the levels of photo ID with birth certificate. This means, you may be able to cross the border into Canada but would not be able to re-enter the U.S. without a passport. Please be prepared if your travel plans include crossing the US/Canadian borders.

For the latest border crossing information visit the US Customs and Canadian Customs web sites. You may also contact the US Border office Dalton Cache at 907-767-5511 or the Canadian Border Pleasant Camp office at 907-767-5540.
