The Haines Highway is a State Scenic Byway and was designated a National Scenic Byway in 2009.  The Haines Highway is one of the most spectacular drives in North America, with high peaks, glaciers, rivers and lakes all along the way. It connects with the Alaska Highway in Haines Junction, 155 miles north in the Yukon Territory; allow 3-1/2 hours driving time. The highway is well paved and maintained year-round. There are lodges & campgrounds along the highway.
